BUTTERFLY

This is the upper level class section - typically for grades 3-5 based on MA state standards in Earth and Life sciences, math, and STEM course work. I strongly suggest that families enroll in this level AFTER taking the Caterpillar and/or Chrysalis levels, or adhering to the recommended grades. Topics will vary and there are no required assessments or prerequisites. Classes are stand alone lessons; if you miss one you will not “fall behind”. I do reference vocabulary and events from prior lessons, but I strive to include/engage all students!  I will review and reiterate information, or reframe details based on learning needs.

Please note that this is NOT a drop off activity – guardians are on site for the duration of class. ‘Stroller and/or backpack siblings’ are welcome as long as not posing a distraction to the group, but will not be involved with activities and lessons.

Students will be given a journal for the duration of the session and are expected to bring this each time as well as a writing utensil. We will be learning to document, observe, record and share data with our collaborator-students.  Focus will be on making scientific observations with our 5 senses and detective work/question formation.
